HELIX-Akantus, founded and run by the three designers Rolf Bürger, Cornelius van den Hövel and Gerhard Scherbinski-von Volkmann has mainly been involved with the design of lighting since its inception in 1989. Later the development and expansion of the Akantus collection were added, comprising high quality products/accessories for the home. One part of this multi award-winning and famous Akantus collection is produced and marketed exclusively by WMF alongside WMF specific developments.

The objective of Akantus is to develop products with a high degree of innovation. The basic function of a product develops into the design theme. Apart from WMF, Akantus creates design objects for a number of further enterprises from the field of upmarket table and home accessories.
